I am a digital media artist based in San Jose, California. Although I still call the vineyard covered hills of Healdsburg home. My world has always been saturated in color; it beamed through the ancestral textiles that adorned my childhood or the blooming landscapes of my Northern California upbringing.
Art, for me, began with learning its fundamentals. From stroke, color, composition. Once I had absorbed these elements, my focus shifted toward the imagination of being itself. My early sketchbooks are filled with swirling blobs, berry juice splatter, and fragmented forms mapping out my quest for tangibility. I love abstraction. Or something close to that of telepathy.
This led me to graphic design, where I discovered an entirely new way to engage with imagery. The further I ventured into the world within my screen, the more my pixels exploded. Graphic design allowed me to manipulate visuals beyond the manuevrability of my fleshy fingers. #godblessphotoshop. I instantly became fascinated with how images communicate ideas, things, thoughts. Whether this be through abstracted signals or bold, declarative forms!! The idea that a single visual could evoke emotion, thought, or action became an obsession. In my work, I prioritize composition and design elements over technical jargon, ensuring that my creations remain intuitive, immersive, and conceptually accessible to multiple interpretations.
My passion for design propelled me into the corporate world, where I rolled out the red carpet for a successful career in marketing design for the movie industry. During this time, I was mentored by the former Marketing Director of Warner Bros., who deepened my understanding of design thinking and the mechanics of visual storytelling in commercial spaces. I learned the language of branding, the psychology of audience engagement, and the delicate balance between artistic integrity and marketability.
Despite these opportunities, I found myself increasingly confined by corporate expectations that stifled creative risk. Money couldnt soothe the itch for more creative freedom. I wanted to bring the level of preciseness and execution from my marketing campaigns into my art.
The later half of 2024 marked a turning point! I chose to leave behind the boring structures of the industry to focus on my art education at San Jose State University. I no longer wanted to create within the corporate constraints but instead explore the boundless possibilities of expression within the binary of software. To me, the computer is not just a tool! It’s emotional software. It's both a friend and a vehicle for expanding expression. Executing commands that are reimagining artistic possibility and fostering collaboration without physical limitations.
My work speculates on the intersection of the digital and the tangible, bending reality through the metaphysical 3rd place that is “there”. I engage with the phenomenon of being online as a performance, sort of like a spiritual ritual where flesh and pixel ripple, break, and merge. The internet, with its canopy of noise and grasslands of artifice, is also a space where identity remains fluid, where realities are reshaped, and where the boundaries between self and collective are constantly shifting. Through my art, I explore these tensions by weaving into the algorithm and reimagine new ways of being digitally alive.
At its core, my work is about transformation. It is an ongoing dialogue between material and immaterial, past and future, what is seen and what is felt.
